Who writes here

My name is Odile Marchand. I was a cultural museum educator in several Parisian museums, which involves standing in a room and explaining to visitors what they are looking at, for years. I live on Rue de Rivoli and I cross the Tuileries Garden almost every morning; the Orangerie is at the other end of the alley. I have spent more hours in the two oval rooms than most guards, at different times, and that is what convinced me that the entry time matters more than the ticket.

This site says what I would say to someone who stopped me in the garden to ask how to visit: book the first hour, don't come on a Tuesday, go down to the basement, and only take a guide if the Walter-Guillaume collection interests you as much as Monet. The rest of the pages develop these four sentences.

What this site is, and is not

This is not the official museum website, which sells its own tickets and publishes its own opening hours. I am not an operator either: I do not sell anything and I do not organize any visits. I compare six products offered on GetYourGuide, I explain what each one is for, and I refer you to them when you want to book. The facts about the museum, opening hours, free admissions, cloakroom, access, come from what the museum publishes and from what I observe on site; they can change, and I correct them when I am informed.

How the website is funded
